News reaches us from the recently disaster-stricken Caribbean island, Haiti, about her most famous son, Wyclef Jean. As the saying goes, "Desperate situations, require desperate measures", and to this end, Clef has started a campaign to run for President of his home country. Our (Reggaematical) interest in the star stems for his love of the music of Jamaica. Did you know that when the Fugees were formed, Lauryn Hill never knew Clef wasn't Jamaican? Well the legend goes that it was months after she met him that Lauryn found out he was actually from Haiti and not the land of wood and water because of his penchant for speaking patois and listening to Reggae. Even on there debut album, 'Blunted On Reality' you could here Clef's Reggae influences. Those influences later flourished int collaborations as he has since worked with the likes of Beres Hammond, Sizzla, Beenie Man and Maxi Priest whilst notching up a number of Grammies and still managing to run his Yele Haiti charity. Clef, good luck with your campaign, but as stated in your new tune with Barrington Levy, you might wanna defy 'Delilah' and grow back your locks!
